Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, is the first stop of the Char Dham Yatra. It is located at 3,293 meters in Uttarkashi and is surrounded by majestic mountains, glaciers, and lush greenery. The temple was built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal and holds great religious importance. Pilgrims believe that bathing in the Yamuna River helps in attaining a long and healthy life.

A major attraction near the temple is Surya Kund, a natural hot water spring. Devotees cook rice and potatoes in the boiling water and offer them as prasad to Goddess Yamuna. The Divya Shila, a sacred rock near the temple, is also worshipped before entering the temple.
